Val Verde Unified School District's Rancho Verde High School received a three-year renewal for its Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) National Demonstration School status on Nov. 18 after a team from the AVID center visited the high school and saw the efforts on the campus to create a school environment that promotes a college bound culture. “The RVHS AVID Coordinator is Mrs. Vivian Kearny and she has done a great job of building a successful team. Mrs. Kearny started the AVID program in our district and has been a major influence on our college bound culture here at Rancho Verde,” said Mr. Godfrey, school principal. AVID Demonstration Schools are exemplary models of the AVID College Readiness System demonstrating the very best AVID strategies and methodologies in both the AVID Elective and school wide college readiness practices.
