“When the Light Bulb Goes on it Can Save You Money!”

“When the light bulb goes on it can save you money!” according to Todd Peters, owner of TPE Electric. Peters, an expert in this field, explains Solar, efficient Air Conditioning and LED lighting are all ways to significantly save money on your electric bill. The least costly and most cluck for your buck is LED lighting. An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is an electronic device that emits light when current is passed through it. LEDs are small, extremely efficient, bright, electronic components. LEDs are now being incorporated into bulbs and fixtures for general lighting applications. There are many benefits to LED lighting, some of which are: “LEDs reduce the cost of energy because they use at least 75 percent less energy than incandescent lighting,” according to Peters. “On average, lighting is 20 to 40 percent of the home electric bill.” That can add up when it comes to savings. “LEDs electrical usage runs six times lower than incandescent and almost 30 percent less than fluorescent.” Peters changed out all of the lighting in his local church, including the stage lighting, and their bill was reduced by at least 40 percent. “Because the stage lighting was changed, it reduced the cooling costs, LEDs produce very little heat,” said Peters. “Have you ever noticed an LED light will not burn your fingers even while the light bulb is on? LEDs do not get hot, therefore the ambient temperature is cooler, again saving you money on your energy bill when it comes to cooling your house,” Peters informed. LEDs last longer than the conventional light bulb - that is why LEDs are guaranteed; most come with a minimum three-year warranty, far beyond the industry standard. “LEDs also reduce maintenance costs since a light bulb has 1,000 hours of life and LED has 50,000 hours of life. One LED has the life of 50 light bulbs,” according to Peters. This not only saves you on your power usage bill, but also saves in the time, effort, and cost of changing 50 light bulbs. No bulb replacements, no ladders, no ongoing disposal program. LEDs offer convenient features and many are available with dimming, and automatic daylight shut-off and motion sensors on some outdoor models. LEDs are durable and won’t break like a conventional incandescent bulb. Peters has been the sole owner of TPE since 1985 and is a leader in electrical LED lighting repair and installation. Although light-emitting diode (LED) technology has been around for many decades, it is only recently starting to become a player in mainstream commercial lighting. In 2007 Congress passed the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA), which unfortunately meant that the everyday standard incandescent bulb was soon to be placed on the extinct list. The rising standards have already rendered 100W, 75W, 60W and 40W incandescent lighting nearly obsolete. The law instituted new energy standards for lighting, which produced a generation of more cost-efficient, longer lasting light bulb. The efforts to increase lighting efficiency are also demonstrated by the Energy Star program and the increase efficiency goals by 2011 and 2013. Whether we approve or not, this means that replacing your lights will never again be the same. With all of the new options out there, being able to find the perfect light can be exhausting, even when these new lights guarantee 20 years and save you hundreds of dollars. “The change you will see in your electrical bill, will explain why incandescent bulbs are slowly fading away” says Peters.
