MORENO VALLEY>> Moreno Valley residents and other stakeholders were invited to learn more about the Hubbard Street Storm Drain Project at a meeting Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the City Hall Council Chamber. In order to minimize flood-related damages to public roads and private properties, the City of Moreno Valley announced plans to construct a storm drain system in Hubbard Street from Ironwood Avenue up to Nightfall Way. The Hubbard Street Storm Drain Project is identified as Line H-1A in the Sunnymead Master Drainage Plan. Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (RCFC & WCD) supports this project with funding for construction using its Zone 4 CIP budget. This storm drain will connect to the existing storm drain on Ironwood Avenue and extend 2,600 feet north on Hubbard Street. A series of catch basins will be constructed and sized to ensure that a 100-year storm event would be conveyed safely within the storm drain or within the street right-of-way. Street improvements such as curbs and gutters will be added as required to provide additional drainage capacity. Advertising for construction bids is scheduled for late February 2017. The city plans to begin construction in May 2017 with an anticipated completion date of December 2017.
