Astronomer and national lecturer, Kevin J Manning, will take you on a journey into the realm of the universe with a stunning visual presentation that will introduce you to the world of astronomy. This all-ages presentation will give you an awe inspired sense of the size and scale of the universe. Kevin is a gifted astronomer, having worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory launched on the space shuttle with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and other ground-based observatories. During this 1½ hour presentation, you’ll learn about the size and scale of the universe, the stars, and other celestial wonders using hands-on activities and assorted visuals. Following this indoor formal presentation, participants will move outside to view celestial objects in the night sky, such as the rings of Saturn, craters on the Moon via telescope (weather permitting). Join us in the Smiley Library Assembly Room on May 31 at 7 p.m.
