Five Wednesdays in July means five free concerts at Cal State San Bernardino this summer when the annual Summer Wednesdays music series returns. Musical styles from Latin dance to classic and electronic rock ’n’ roll to rhythm and blues will be offered every Wednesday at 7 p.m. This year, the concerts move to the Pfau Library Lawn (bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets), with free parking in Lot D. Latin Society, an Inland Empire favorite known for its big band Latin sound, returned once again to kick off the series on July 1. Blasphemous Rumours, a tribute band, brought the electronic rock of Depeche Mode to CSUSB on July 8, performing many of the group’s hits, including “Strangelove,” “Personal Jesus,” “Just Can't Get Enough” and “Enjoy The Silence.” Desperado makes its return to Summer Wednesdays on July 15, bringing the classic rock sounds of the Eagles. On July 22, Rumours makes its debut at CSUSB. The group recreates the music of Fleetwood Mac, including “Gypsy,” “Rhiannon,” “Tusk” and “Say You Love Me.” The series closes on July 29 with another local band, Latin Flair, which will bring its rhythm and blues, Latin favorites and a little bit of rock ’n’ roll to the campus. Most performances will last approximately two hours, concluding by 9 p.m. While the venue is ideal for picnicking, there will be concession stands selling food on concert nights.
