For kids at Bradley Elementary, the REC Center is making a difference.
Providing free after-school programming at the elementary school including art, workshops, engineering classes and fun games like life-size Candyland, the REC Center gave kids a place to have fun and continue their learning throughout April.
Fourth, fifth and sixth graders were selected as leaders of their school last month, and were invited for a special month-long leadership program, explained REC Center Executive Director Jennifer Araiza.
"During this time the students worked together to identify who they are, what a leader is and what community means," said Araiza. "With this information they were challenged and empowered to create a community service project for their community."
The students identified their community as their school, and organized a school-wide clean up.
