The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) recently announced that Grand Terrace High School student Ashley A. Guevara of Colton has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership scholarship, and community commitment. The announcement was made NSHSS Founder and Chairman Class Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prize. “On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment that Ashley has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said Mr. Nobel. “Ashley is now a member of a unique community of scholars – a community that represents our very best hope for the future.” “Our vision is to build a dynamic international organization that connects members with meaningful content, resources, and opportunities,” stated NSHSS President James W. Lewis. “We aim to help students like Ashley build on their academic successes and enhance the skills and desires to have a positive impact on the global community.” Guevara also got accepted into Loma Linda School of Medicine, which has been her long-term goal and dream, according to her mother Sandra. Guevara was one of the three kids who got accepted into Loma Linda School of Medicine, in the entire San Bernardino County and the only one in her whole school who got accepted. Her mother said, “So many people tried to get in, and she did it!” Guevara doesn’t only excel in academics; she is also involved in school activities and is currently the president of the school band. “She is just an enthusiastic, hard-working girl,” her mom said.
