Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church’s Extravaganza Brings Entertainment and Praise

Dozens gathered for a night of praise last Friday, Aug. 30, during the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church’s Friday Night Live Extravaganza event at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center. Guests last Friday night included Dyles Mavis, Dr. Shirley Johnson, Real Testimoni, the church’s own Youth Choir, the Daughters of Praise, the Riverside Community Choir, The Browns, Gospo & the Gospel Kids, Purpose Manifested, Signs of Worship, Boyz, Richard O. Jones and many others. Performances included singing, spoken word, praise, dancing and gospel rap presentations that evening. The free event has been put on by the church for several years, confirmed Good Hope Baptist Church minister Ed Moore Jr., who is a youth pastor at the church. Typically, Friday night performances take place at the church’s sanctuary in Perris, but last Friday the group moved to Moreno Valley’s Conference and Rec Center in an effort to reach out to a larger group of people in the area, Moore noted. “Our goal is to get teens between the ages of 12 and 19 to join us. We want to get kids off the streets and have them join us, and to get them around other Christian youth. We want to let them know that we have fun, and a lot of times once we get the kids to come in and they see the things that we do, they will join [the church] and that’s what we want,” said Moore.
