The National Day of Prayer is back, this year held at noon on Thursday, May 7, with a celebration going on at Colton City Hall around the flag pole. Speakers include various pastors, city council members, educators and more. The event is sponsored by the Colton Ministerial Association. Colton had not observed this day at the City Hall since 2009, when this event was under the tireless leadership of Pastor/Chaplain Bob Johnson. From the heart of the South, on May 2, 2013, Mayor Anthony R. Foxx of Charlotte, North Carolina signed a proclamation that this day be a “National Day of Reason" grabbed my heart and attention. As a Korean Conflict veteran, heartfelt prayers to my heavenly Father have been more rewarding than some of my reasoning with my fellow man. In 2013 through 2014 as a church layman, I had my pastor's support to hold an interdenominational National Day of Prayer observance around the flagpole at Colton Christian Church. The event is once again celebrated around the flagpole at Colton City Hall. Please support us by your attendance at noon on Thursday, May 7.
