At its March 11 meeting, the Moreno Valley Unified School Board recognized Board Vice President Dr. Denise Fleming, who will be honored March 22nd as a 2014 “Woman of Distinction” in the 61st Assembly District.
The award, presented by Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), is in recognition of Dr. Fleming’s significant and ongoing community contributions, and specifically her important service as a role model and mentor for young women.
Dr. Fleming has dedicated over 20 years to the education field, as a business professional in education and teaching students. She has authored papers on Human Resource Evaluations and “The Impact of Virtual Schools for At Risk Students.”
She is employed as an adjunct college professor and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in international business, psychology and marketing. She also owns a party-planning business, Ordained and Sustained Events, Inc., where she specializing in weddings and other events. She is also a local realtor with over 10 years of experience.
Dr. Fleming earned a Doctor of Education degree at Argosy University.
She is a member of numerous non-profit boards including Care Connexus in Riverside, an Alzheimer’s adult day services center, and Harvest Community Development Center, whose mission is to support individuals and families by fostering independence and promoting healthy relationships. She is also a hospice volunteer, helping patients and families cope with the transition from life to death.
Dr. Fleming began her lifetime of public service with eight years in the United States Navy.
She will be honored with other “Woman of Distinction” award recipients on Saturday, March 22nd, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Riverside Marriott Hotel located in Main Ball Room at 3400 Market Street in Riverside.
