As many are aware, last Saturday (Dec. 7) was the intended return of the highly anticipated 45th Annual Colton Christmas Parade. With music, decorative floats, a colorfully adorned fir tree and more, it is truly an enjoyable occasion for all.

However, the winter season is now upon us and the weather has been cooling quickly, bringing along bouts of rain and snow. As it so happens, there was a pouring of rain that conflicted with the outdoorsy event, and in the interest of safety as well as enjoyment, the parade unfortunately had to be cancelled.

Still, for those who attended, all was not lost! Colton’s Chamber of Commerce made sure to maintain the holiday spirit and provided hot cocoa, coffee, and cupcakes, the latter two refreshments being a generous donation from Starbucks and Sweet Life Cupcakes.

Unfortunately, the parade this year will not be able to happen. However, for those who may be a bit disappointed, fret not, check out the Colton Fire Department’s “Parade of Lights,”and watch early evening as the Fire units don many-hued lights and escort Santa Claus around the neighborhoods on an ornamental sleigh.

Below are some of the viewing dates:

Dec. 12, Thursday -- La Loma Hills & South Colton

Dec. 13, Friday -- Cooley Ranch Area

Dec. 14, Saturday -- Reche Canyon Area
