Attend any education conference or talk with state officials or leaders from other school districts and mention you’re from Moreno Valley Unified and you’re likely to get a similar response: “I keep hearing great things about you guys!” Moreno Valley Unified School District is definitely gaining a reputation statewide. In part, it’s due to the fact that several of our own leaders are currently leaders of statewide organizations, including School Board Clerk Jesús Holguín, who serves as president of the powerful California School Boards Association; Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White, who advises State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson and is president of the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators; and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, who currently is president of the California League of Middle Schools. It’s also due to the many notable achievements of our students, teachers and other staff. Example of our increasingly prominent profile: The current issue of ACSA’s online magazine, Leadership, could be referred to as the MVUSD Edition, as it features a great piece on the Families for College program written by Dr. Kedziora, Director of Accountability and Assessment Kim Hendricks, Director of ELL Lilia Villa, and grants consultant Katie Sandberg, and another short piece by Kim Hendricks on equity in education.
