On Saturday July 6, Stained Glass, a Christian alternative rock band, performed live for the very first time during their national tour in Colton. While singing various songs of worship and praise, Stained Glass were also streaming live online from Maranatha Community Church, located in Colton, all across the U.S. Group members Cheyane, Allie, Gabriela, Aaron, and Lance also shared with the audience their own personal testimonies while illustrating with lyrics and instruments God’s love. Stained Glass is a musical rock band made up of multi-cultural psalmsters and psalmstresses from different parts of the United States, who come together every year to share the gospel and reach out to the hearts and minds of those who desire to seek the message of Christ. Established between the years of 1994 and 2002 by members of the Seventh Day Baptist Women’s Board Summer Christian Service Corps, and then re-established in the year 2011, this group of five young adults was willing to give up college summer vacations to provide service and supply their individual “witness of Christ.” Stained Glass singer/songwriter and keyboardist Allie Rudawski, who is pursuing her studies in theology, stated, “We are all one body and this is an opportunity for us all to bless others, but to also meet others of the body and fulfill that calling to be unified across the entire nation.” Timothy Lawton, the band’s sound technician and percussionist, explained, “I get so much out of doing this myself, and see how much I grow with Christ and with the people around me. You see people change and begin to recognize that you are changing as well, which is the most rewarding.” Guitarists and long-time friends Aaron Andries and Lance Greene both joined Stained Glass in 2011. They had both agreed that being a part of the youth ministry group, such as SCSC and Stained Glass, has drawn them to “continue to inspire and encourage others by uplifting our youth through song and also continue to live, walk, and set examples by service to others and praying for one another, by consistently being obedient to God.” With Stained Glass closing their performance with a testimony from Lance Greene and a prayer by singer/songwriter Cheyane Blevins, their message seem to be heard by and carried on through the hearts of those who attended.
