Having run for over two decades, the annual Holiday Gift and Craft Fair hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #506, was held last Saturday.
The annual event has a dual purpose: First, to allow residents to support local businesses and purchase holiday gifts for their loved ones and friends; and also to support the Aerie in their endeavors to continue supporting the local community, which they serve.
According to Julie Fietz, a 43-year member of the group who has, in the past, served as the secretary for the organization, local businesses, organizations and crafty residents sold a variety of items that ranged from jewelry, clothing, baked goods and crafts.
"[The Gift and Craft fair] is our major fundraiser for local charities," said Fietz. "Throughout the year we have fundraisers for the grand charities. Those go to research to cure diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and kidney disease. This here is a great way to get handmade gifts or unique gifts and help support our charity."
All proceeds from Saturday's event will be donated to Mary's Mercy center, local Little League teams, the San Bernardino Senior Companion Program, and more.
The Fraternal Order of the Eagles is an international non-profit organization with the mission of improving human life while promoting prosperity to all. The F.O.E. has been an established and noted organization for over 100 years. The auxiliary unit supports the Aerie in its fundraising efforts to help it continue to provide community service and raise funds for cancer and disease research.
While visitors checked out and purchased items for sale at the craft sale, they also had the opportunity to purchase items from the auxiliary's rummage sale, which happened in conjunction with the holiday craft sale.
