Grand Terrace is celebrating one of its own as Elysia Christina Fernandez has been named the 2026 Woman of the Year for California’s 58th Assembly District, a prestigious recognition presented by Assemblywoman Leticia Castillo on March 27, 2026.
The honor highlights Fernandez’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication to community service, and her ability to uplift those around her through both professional and volunteer efforts. The award ceremony was held at the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, where an elegant high tea gathering set the stage for an afternoon celebrating impactful women from across the district. Surrounded by lush gardens, flowing fountains, and vibrant floral displays, attendees embraced the occasion with grace and style.
Fernandez’s journey is one that resonates deeply within the local community. She first connected with City News Group (CNG) as a freelance photographer, capturing the spirit of local events through her lens. Her passion for storytelling and her commitment to highlighting community voices quickly expanded her role into both photographer and writer.

· Local business owner, photographer, artist, and mother of three
