Redlands Community Hospital Foundation recently received a $125,000 grant from Stater Bros. Charities and the Inland Women Fighting Cancer organization to improve the access to care for area cancer patients.
The grant will help support the building of a new dedicated 10,000 square-foot comprehensive outpatient cancer center, which will implement state-of-the-art technology.
The center aims to house breast cancer diagnostics, treatments, and medical and radiation oncologists in one building in an effort to enhance coordination of care, increase the patients' physical and emotional comfort and reduce the amount of time spent in the hospital by one-third. The central technology will allow for extremely accurate targeting to better treat cancerous areas deep within the body while reducing damage to surrounding areas.
"Redlands Community Hospital Foundation wants to help Redlands Community Hospital in providing the best care for cancer patients in our local communities," said Zachary Tucker, president of the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation. "The Foundation will do this by adding to this contribution in our effort to raise the funds needed to make this new center a reality. This contribution gets us off to a great start in meeting our goal."
The Annual Believe Walk has funded various cancer fighting organizations, including Redlands Community Hospital. Stater Bros. Charities teamed up with Inland Women Fighting Cancer (IWFC) - an organization created by a coalition of local community leaders Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton and Nancy Varner - to raise funds for patients and their families facing cancer within the community. Redlands Community Hospital Foundation helps the hospital achieve its mission through raising funds to support infrastructure, clinical services and health promotion programs of the hospital.
