On June 25 at approximately 6:18 p.m., San Bernardino Police Department Dispatch received the report of a sexual assault that occurred in a parking lot at the Carousel Mall. The confidential victim reported that after exiting a bus near the area of Fourth and F streets, she walked alone southbound through the mall parking lot.
She was allegedly approached by a lone, Hispanic male adult who threatened her with a sharp object if she didn’t do what he told her to do.
A release from San Bernardino City police said the male directed the victim to a fairly secluded area where he forced her to engage in sex acts with him. Police said the suspect threatened the victim before allowing her to leave the area. The suspect left the area on foot.
Police described the man as about 23 or 24 years old, 5-foot-five-inches tall, between 130 and 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, a moustache and goatee. He had a light complexion and was wearing a T-shirt with unknown letters and a "thumbs up" style symbol, black shorts and an olive drab fabric belt, according to police. He also carried a black backpack.
