LaVaughn Poutre, born August 16, 1922, in the city of Maywood, California, departed this earth for her place in Heaven on April 15, 2014.
She had been a resident of Grand Terrace for 52 years. LaVaughn is survived by her husband of 71 years, Col. Rex Poutre USAF (RET); her children Michael Poutre of Escondido, Susan Nichols of Hauser Lake, Idaho, and Kevin Poutre of Dove Canyon, Ca. She leaves behind seven loving grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She lived in Riverside as a young lady, married at the Mission Inn in 1943, and traveled the world as a military wife and mother. One of her passions was playing duplicate Bridge in National and International Tournaments with her daughter, both Life Masters.
She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, an occasional outing with Rex on his Gold Wing, and playing with her grandchildren. Unfortunately, she had been afflicted with Alzheimer's disease for the last 15 years, robbing her of any meaningful contact with her great and great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and a rosary at Acheson Graham Garden of Prayer. She was laid to rest at Riverside Nation Cemetery. She was loved by all who knew her.
