Two San Bernardino Valley College football players were named the Region IV All-California First Team Offense by the Junior College Athletic Bureau and the California Community College Football Coaches Association (CCCFA). Wide receiver Isaiah Gibbs and tackle De'Arius Young, both sophomores, were each awarded this title after helping lead their team, under first-year coach John Shipp, to a 6-4 overall record and 4-3 conference record this year. Valley College began the season at 2-0, but lost three of the next four games in hard-fought contests. In the end, SBVC was one game out of returning to a bowl game. The team was awarded All-Mountain Conference honors and six second team All-Mountain Conference honors this season. Gibbs was also unanimously selected to the First Team Offense as the top receiver in touchdowns, with 12, and in yards per game this season, with 94.8. Gibbs's best game this year was the homegame against San Diego Mesa, where he found the end zone three times and garnered 206 yards on nine catches. He also gave 100 or more yard reception games against Compton and East L.A. During the eighth week of the season, Gibbs grabbed the Mountain Conference PLayer of the Week honor for those nine catches and 206 yards in three touchdowns, with a long of 57 yards. Additionally, his teammate Young helped anchor an SBVC offensive line that only surrendered 37 sacks.
