Students from Vista Heights Middle School delved deep into American history, with a whirlwind tour of significant historical sights back east.

History came alive recently for students from Vista Heights Middle School, who spent a whirlwind week back east touring Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. It’s an annual tour coordinated by history teacher Aurelio Cortez. So how much can a group of 71 students, two parents and six school staff see in a week? Here’s just a sample: Plymouth Rock, Lexington and Concord, Harvard, Quincy Market, Times Square, a Broadway musical (Matilda), 9-11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Independence Hall, Smithsonian museums, Mount Vernon, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WWII memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, U.S. Capitol, White House, National Archives…
