Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, CCFSC, together with the California Correctional Peace Officers Association recently held a Summer Family Picnic for families with a child with cancer at Hunter Hobby Park not too far from Moreno Valley. CCFSC provides this event in hopes of brightening the day for not only the cancer patients but the entire family. Children with cancer and their families enjoyed a fun-filled day where they participated in water balloon tosses, three-legged races, tug-a-war, and much more. The Live Steamers provided train rides for participating families and the California Correctional Peace Officers Association barbecued delicious hamburgers and hot dogs for all to enjoy. Families escape from their daily lives at the hospital and have a great time in an ‘old-fashioned’ family picnic. There’s no better medicine than being surrounded by family, friends, and good food! A special acknowledgement to: the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, Live Steamers, Nick’s Burgers in Redlands, Sparkletts in Riverside, and all participating volunteers for making this event possible.
