Many people in the City of Grand Terrace do not realize that women are the ones who got the white line down the middle of the road, it was women who got the call boxes on the freeways. 1944: Through the GFWC Buy a Bomber campaign during World War II, state federations sold war bonds worth $154,459,132-enough money to purchase 431 planes. 1961: GFWC's Women's Crusade for Seat Belts program resulted in the installation of more than one million seat belts over the course of one year. 2000s: GFWC members contributed $180,000.00 for a fully equipped ambulance for use by the New York Fire Dept. in response to the loss of equipment suffered during the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. This does not even touch what we have done for our own city. First stop sign on De Berry so the children would be safe crossing the street, underground utilities, Bell Tower at Grand Terrace Elementary School, and Blue Dots for the Grand Terrace Fire Department, just to name a few. The Grand Terrace Woman's Club attended GFWC California Federation of Women's Clubs. The 111th Convention was held in San Jose, Ca. San Bernardino District 21 President Stephanie Stark from Redlands was installed. There are 14 Districts, and 263 clubs in the State of California. These ladies are still working for a better tomorrow.
