Titan Football Players Represent Grand Terrace in All Star Game

Last Saturday, Jan. 11, The 29th Annual SPORTS Foundation Inland Empire Football All-Star Classic was played at Corona High School. Two representatives from Grand Terrace High School (GTHS), senior running back Cruz Duke (#21) and senior offensive lineman Joe Valadez (#79) both played in the game. Unfortunately, the San Bernardino County All-Stars came up short and lost to the Riverside County All-Stars by a score of 31-28 in overtime. The San Bernardino County All-Stars team started the scoring early when it took a 7-0 lead on their first drive, but Riverside answered back to tie it up at 7. Both teams battled as they exchanged two more touchdowns each to make the score 21-21 at halftime. The second half belonged to the defense, with each team just scoring a touchdown a piece. At the end of regulation time, the score was tied, 28-28. The San Bernardino County All Star team had the chance to take the lead in overtime, but the pass attempt in the end zone was intercepted and Riverside took over; after being stopped on three consecutive plays but already in the field goal range the Riverside Team went for the game winning 36-yard field goal and was successful. This was Riverside’s fourth consecutive win against San Bernardino, but both teams played a hard, close game.
