Crews continue to focus on mopping up and securing the fire’s edge. Good work was done on the northeast portion of the fire where the biggest threat to the community persists. Containment line construction is nearing completion, which will keep the fire from reaching the town of Idyllwild. The focus today continues to be efforts to secure and hold the line. Crews are mopping up along the fire’s edge to prevent escape. Southern California Edison crews continue efforts to restore power. Repair of the impacts from fire suppression operations has begun. This includes efforts to reduce erosion and mitigate impacts to natural resources.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has permitted the repopulation of the Pine Cove, Fern Valley, Cedar Glen and portions of Idyllwild outside of the fire perimeter. The portions of Garner Valley south of Morris Ranch Road were repopulated Saturday. Full access to Garner Valley south of Morris Ranch Road has been restored.
The Riverside County Fire Department in cooperation with CAL FIRE released initial damage inspections completed on the Cranston Fire. Damage Inspection Teams completed initial structure and infrastructure evaluations: a total of 12 buildings were destroyed and five others damaged.
A community meeting is scheduled for tonight, Monday evening July 30 at 7:00 pm, at the Idyllwild School located at 26700 Highway 243 Idyllwild, CA.
