"If you can't find a way, make a way."
That is the motto of the new head of the Jerry L. Pettis VA Hospital Volunteer Services Larry Moore.
It has been three weeks since Moore filled the position, vacant since October. He says experience as a VA volunteer in college prepared him for the new job.
Moore, who is not a veteran, said he is committed to serving those in the armed forces. He took the job in Loma Linda as a way to challenge himself and improve the department so that volunteers can give 100 percent effort to support those who have served the country.
He has said he has plans to recruit more volunteers to help with patients' needs and promote teamwork among them.
He is looking forward to staying in Southern California.
