Old Rudolph will be getting some help at this year’s Artober Fest on Saturday, Oct. 26. No, not the red-nosed reindeer but Project Rudolph, an international program dedicated to delivering some ‘holiday cheer’ to deployed troops and service members serving overseas.
The Artober Fest—held at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center on Frederick St.—is known for being a collection event where local artists are able to showcase their talents. Artober Fest celebrates the arts in all their varying forms and entertains guests with dancing, poetry readings, singing, and painting demonstrations. This year, however, Project Rudolph will also be present, thanks in part to the local Michael’s Arts and Crafts store which is sponsoring an area during the festival for the public to create ornaments and cards, as well as write letters to troops to help spread the Christmas spirit.
Arts Commission Chairman Richard L. F. Archer Sr. said, “The military play such an important role in Moreno Valley. It is only right to show our appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice.”
The Moreno Valley Unified School District and the Vanguard Community Art Gallery will also be conducting additional efforts on behalf of Project Rudolph.
