Twenty members of the Grand Terrace Artistic Roller Skating Team based at Cal Skate Grand Terrace recently headed to the annual State Games competition on Sunday, Feb. 15, in Orange. Team members ranging in age from 5 to 55 competed in freestyle, dance, figures and pairs skating competitions throughout the day. "This [was] a great opportunity for our young skaters to experience competitive skating and demonstrate the skills that hundreds of hours of training have prepared them with," said Head Coach Lori Becker. "This [was] the first California State Games for many of our skaters and we think many have a great shot at success." Over 500 entries from throughout California participated in over 87 events. Skate categories were based on age and skill levels and included girls, boys and adults. "We are proud to represent Cal Skate Grand Terrace and the Inland Empire," continued Coach Becker. The Grand Terrace Artistic Roller Skating Team of Cal Skate Grand Terrace has been actively training young skaters from the Inland Empire for 30 years. They are the largest artistic roller skating club in San Bernardino County.
