On Tuesday, March 3, Elks' Exalted Ruler, Christie Williams and Elks' Trustee Chair, met with Bear Valley Principal, Scott Walker, and began distribution of free dictionaries and reference paperbacks to third graders at the elementary school.
Smith read stories to several third-grade classes and all 115 third graders received a free dictionary/reference paperback from Moreno Valley Elks.
Additionally, the students received Elks coloring books promoting a drug-free lifestyle containing pictures of posters created by elementary school students from contests held earlier in the year. The Moreno Valley Elks also contributed cupcakes for Bear Valley Elementary School's special event which included visits from local firefighters, police officers and other Moreno Valley service personnel.
Moreno Valley Elks also provided dictionary and reference paperbacks to third graders attending: Ramona Elementary, Edgemont Elementary, Serrano Elementary, Sunnymead Elementary and Hendrick Ranch Elementary.
Approximately 630 paperbacks were delivered to students throughout the Moreno Valley Unified School District.
The Elks dictionary Program is just one of many youth programs supported by Moreno Valley Elks Lodge #2697.
