Last Saturday, September 20, 2025, Dr.G hosted an All-Church Community Prayer Breakfast gathering of sixty people, including Pastors, leaders and/or church representatives. The event was part of the Colton Council of Churches which has been making great strides during its two-year existence in bringing churches together under the common goals of preaching Jesus, prayer, networking, and community engagement.
The All-Church Community Prayer Breakfast was a very successful event and brought together representatives among 15 churches of the City of Colton. “This was an awesome prayer breakfast,” reflected Susie Halim (City Blessing Church), who continued, “We were blessed with the worship, prayers, and the fellowship.” Another attendee, Hanna Avalos (Missionary Bible Church) also gave her reaction to this event, “We were united in prayer. It was so wonderful.”
The 8:00am event was held at the Colton Woman’s Club, who brought a few club members to assist with the breakfast with set-up and the “self-serve line.” Delma Ledesma, President of the Woman’s Club not only wanted to help, but thoroughly enjoyed the program. “What a beautiful prayer breakfast. Lots of wonderful people, beautiful music and just overall a beautiful day,” she commented. In addition, the Colton Lions Club pitched in with providing helpers and set up equipment for serving pancakes and sausage, along with complimentary fruit, rolls and coffee. Carlos Araiza, President of the Lions Club offered his support for this event and commented, “The Colton Lions wanted to help with this event. This type of event is good for the community.”
The Prayer Breakfast started off with an opening prayer given by Pastor Ernie Ceballos (Everlasting Covenant Church) followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and then a performance of “America” on the trumpet by Dr.G. After the food was served, the program continued with the singing of five traditional hymns, a special message “On Prayer” by DrG, and a series of special prayers given by Pastor Sharon Dyce (Pentecostal City Mission Church), pastor Erfin (City Blessing Church), Pastor Richard Luna (Amazing Grace Church), Pastor Don Duenez (Echoes of Love Church) and Josh Sarmiento (Amazing Grace Church).
The All-Church breakfast idea was created in February 2024 by Dr.G, founder of the Church Council, who not only invited the Colton Churches to participate, but as mentioned, collaborated with two local community groups, the Colton Woman’s Club and Colton Lions Club. According to Dr.G, “The purpose of this new association is to bring representatives of all Colton churches together.” So far-to-date, forty-five churches have participated in either the monthly meetings, or community outreach activities, and gradually others are joining in. This Prayer Breakfast event, along with the National Day of Prayer (May), the Community Outreach Event (September), and the newly established Colton Earp Day (August) are quickly becoming part of an inspiring schedule of yearly events which are making a “spiritual” impact on our community.
Over time, this organization looks to continue their meetings, but is also planning additional community activities that bring the churches together. Several church leaders have attended several times, and overall, the attendance has been very good. “It’s good to get to know new people,” said Pastor Erfin (City Blessing Church), who not offered the prayer on churches but is a new to the community and new to the Council of Churches.
As long as the attendance remains steady and the interest in the organization continues to develop and grow, the Colton Council of Churches will move forward with its plans. DrG has already reserved the Woman’s Club for the remainder of this year and plans to continue in 2026. The meetings normally fall on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9:00am.
