This week’s GTHS athlete of the week goes to Garrett Ostrinski. Garrett plays for both the varsity football and high jump varsity track team. He is at the young age of 16 years old, in the 10th grade and maintains a successful and impressive 3.8 gpa.
Garrett has been running track since he was in kindergarten, participating in football since he was 7 years old. He just recently started taking part in the high jump for track and has enjoyed it from the moment he started.
He made it to the CIF Finals for the high jump all league. He says his biggest challenge while jumping is being able to stay calm. While he gets frustrated easily, he just likes to remember to focus on the next jump and to execute it.
Garrett loves the competition on the track field because its just him out there and everything is on him.
He plans to attend UC Davis when he graduates and wants to become a veterinarian.
One of his favorite quotes to keep him motivated is, “Know your limitations and defy them.” When he isn’t busy playing sports and excelling in school he enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing Fortnite.
Congratulations on being such an inspiration and for making this week’s GTHS athlete of the week! Keep up the great work and working hard for your goals!
