The Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association* is pleased to present watercolorist Pete Morris, at the monthly meeting on Sunday, September 9, from 2- 4 pm, in the Loma Linda Senior Center. Morris, who is a storyteller, has been dubbed “The Metro Da Vinci” for his facility in catching not only the facial features, but the emotional state of fellow commuters, with a quick sketch. As his bio states, “seeing beyond what his eyes show him at times, he imparts a bit of the persons, themselves, into his work.”
But Morris is not limited to one setting in a quest for memorable material. As shown in the painting attached to this note, he is a meticulous observer of his surroundings, no matter where he is. Scan his online sites to discover more of the often-unnoticed beauty in city life.
One of his specialties is the creation of “House Portraits”: just imagine your home as art! Best of all, his love of portraying people, people of all races and conditions, is perhaps seen at its best in his Operating Room paintings: memories of a humanitarian mission to Guatemala.
He says of himself that “art involves his whole being: his life history, his emotions, his spirituality, his intellect…And then, it transcends all of those things, because maybe God is involved, and maybe there is something mysterious about it that transcends all of that and can’t be fully explained.” His artistic goals are two-fold: to do good work and to encourage other artists.
This presentation will be of particular interest to artists with a similar interest in the spiritual aspect of life. Mr. Morris will invite discussion during and after his painting demonstration.
LLCAA* meetings take place at the Loma Linda Senior Center, located at the southeast corner of the Loma Linda Civic Center complex, 25541 Barton Road, in Loma Linda. The public is invited; a $5.00 donation is requested from non-LLCAA members. There is no cost to LLU students.
