San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) is holding a trio of ribbon cutting ceremonies before the month is out to celebrate new facilities and new opportunities for everyone.
The first event is the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the Indian Springs High School (ISHS) Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, September 18 at 4:30 p.m. The school, located at 650 North Del Rosa Drive in San Bernardino, had been holding performances and presentations in the school’s Multi-Use (MU) Room, which serves as the cafeteria but also has a stage and sound system.
The new Performing Arts Center is 18,000 square feet with dressing rooms, a modern orchestra pit, a scene shop, a full fly loft, an art gallery, and seating for 501 people.
The SBCUSD Board of Education members will hold their regular meeting in the facility starting at 5:30 p.m. the same day. The Board of Education has been meeting in the ISHS MU Room while the Board of Education building on F Street is being remodeled. With the opening of the ISHS Performing Arts Center, Board members will meet in the new facility until the Board of Education building reopens.
On September 25 at 11 a.m., the new Welcoming Resource Center will hold its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony. The facility has been open and operating for several weeks, but Tuesday, September 25 is the official grand opening for the public. The Center, 781 A West 2nd Street in San Bernardino, provides assistance in enrolling students in elementary school, language assessment, advanced learner assessment, and a variety of other services for students and families in SBCUSD.
