San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on the 12000 block of Honey Hill Drive Aug. 17 in Grand Terrace where they found a 63-year-old woman who had shot herself in the hand.
Bonnie Rucker, 63, a resident of the home at Honey Hill Drive, was arguing with her son Scott Adcock, 34, over an Xbox game console, according to a release issued by the sheriff’s department.
During the heated argument, Rucker pointed a loaded .357 caliber handgun directly at Adcock, while telling him she was going to shoot him, according to the release.
A “short struggle” ensued between the two, the release states, after which Adcock “hit the firearm from in front of him,” causing the gun to fire into Rucker’s right hand.
Adcock sustained no injuries.
Rucker was treated at Loma Linda Medical Center for her injuries and then booked at West Valley Detention Center on charges of assault with a firearm, negligently discharging a firearm and making criminal threats, according to booking records.
Jail records show she was released Aug. 19.
