Eighth-graders from Badger Springs, Landmark and Mountain View middle schools have all recently paid visits to Vista del Lago, soaking up the high school atmosphere and getting their first look at the school’s variety of academic pathways as part of the 9th Annual Career Exploration field trips. The soon-to-be-incoming freshmen learned how to make a Lego in three-dimensional space using engineering CAD software, how to draw a cartoon character in animation class, how to create a webpage with animated gifs, and learned some health concepts using sophisticated mannequins, dissections and models. Counselors explained graduation requirements and had students register online for their ninth-grade classes. John Rose, creator and organizer of the event and engineering teacher, explained, "This field trip is designed to expose the kids to their future high school’s culture, expectations and our career pathways so they can make a smooth transition.”
