Valley View’s new Mock Trial team.

Looking every bit the law-firm part, Valley View High School’s new Mock Trial team competed recently at the Riverside County Mock Trial Competition held at the Riverside Historic Courthouse. Not only was this the first time that Valley View competed, but the Eagles were also the only team representing MVUSD this year. “I am so very proud of our team,” said English teacher and coach Jami Yee. “We had our share of challenges just getting started, but the team never gave up and always gave everything they had.“ The Eagles competed in four rounds against four highly-polished teams from other Riverside County districts. Composed of all freshmen, what the young team lacked in experience, they made up for with commitment. “The students did a great job presenting their case,” said Cherie Suchan, a VVHS English teacher who attended Round 4. “The attorney jurors and the presiding judge were impressed with both teams, but specifically commended VVHS.” The team is planning a celebratory dinner at which Team Dad Charles McLaughlin will be recognized for his support.
