Benefits of Keeping the Airspace Safe

Recently, the March Field Air Museum presented a one-hour briefing by retired air traffic controller John Dutto, a 29-year FAA Air Traffic Control Supervisor and Air Traffic Control Specialist, who focused on how to keep our airspace safe. From 1974 to 1978, Dutto worked at Air Traffic Control in the USAF. He began his FAA career in 1982 at Los Angeles Approach Control. He served as Air Traffic Control Supervisor and Air Traffic Control Specialist throughout a 29-year FAA career. He retired in November 2011 and has since provided ATC services at Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Southern California TRACONS. “The public often doesn’t know the intricacies of what goes on behind the scenes while we travelers sit back in our seats and enjoy our flights. John offered us a chance to learn more about that world that is hidden away from us, yet is one of the most important aspects of our traveling experience,” stated Patricia Korzec, museum director.
