On 8/11/18 at approximately 10:30 P.M. officers responded to a possible fight in the area of North Colton Ave and North Virginia Ave, Colton. When officers arrived at the location, they were unable to locate anyone fighting in the area. At approximately 10:39 P.M. Colton Police Dispatch received a call of a stabbing victim in the 1000 Block of Virginia Ave. Colton Paramedics responded and the victim, 40-year-old Mark Gonzalez, was pronounced deceased. Officers later learned that the victim was stabbed in a parking area near North Colton Ave and North Virginia Ave. It is believed that the fight and the stabbing victim are related. The investigation is being conducted by the Colton Police Detective Division with assistance from the San Bernardino Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigations.
