Moreno Valley Mayor Tom Owings will deliver the annual State of the City address on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center.
Mayor Owings and members of the City Council will host a reception beginning at 11:30, with lunch served at noon. The program is slated to continue until 1:30 p.m.
The event is hosted jointly by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce and the City of Moreno Valley. According to a written release, Mayor Owings during the program will discuss various city efforts, including the following points: the City’s effort to balance the budget without the use of reserves; efforts to stimulate the city’s economy; challenge the status quo in animal shelter adoptions, community participation, school graduation rates and student performance; and enhance City Hall’s professional leadership while maintaining the continuity of government services to Moreno Valley residents and businesses.
Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce members may attend the event for $30 per person, and non-members for $45. After Aug. 8, prices will increase to $45 for Chamber members and $55 for non-members.
Reservations are required.
The Alessandro Room at the Conference and Recreation Center will be available for viewing the speech at no cost to the public.
The Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center is located at 14075 Frederick St. in Moreno Valley.
