Gene Pokorny, principal tuba player for the Chicago Symphony, will perform with the Redlands Symphony as the orchestra presents the WORLD PREMIERE of a new concerto for tuba created by American composer and music icon, Lalo Schifrin. Maestro Ransom Wilson will conduct. The program also includes G.F. HANDEL’S Concerto Grosso in D major, HWV 323, Symphony No. 104 in D, major by Franz Joseph HAYDN and Ancient Airs and Dances,Suite 1 by Ottorino RESPIGHI.  The evening ends with the Mission Impossible Theme, also by Lalo SCHIFRIN. The concert takes place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of Redlands.  The performance begins at 8 PM.  Doors open at 7 PM and Maestro Wilson will present a pre-concert talk that begins at 7:15 PM.
