Prior to the latest game, the Grand Terrace Titans wanted to come out hungry looking for a win in back to back games following their first win of the season last week versus Bloomington High School. Their opponent, the Fontana High School Steelers (FOHI) after starting league play at 1-0, were coming off a loss to Kaiser Cats and wanted to get back on track with a win.  At the start of the game, the Grand Terrace Titans got a nice 20-yard first down pass to Lonzel Bradford #13 on the first play. Rohan Preston #20 ran the ball twice in a row for two first downs on each play. Mekhi Lewis #12 passed to Garrett Ostrinski #15 for a 14-yard pass for a first down on the 1-yard line. Preston #20 stretched the run outside and got the corner of the endzone for the rushing touchdown making the score 7-0. Fontana Steelers couldn’t get anything going on their first drive ending on an 3 and out, causing a punt to GT. After back to back punts from both teams, Titans took over on their 35-yard line. A great drive by GT ends with David Gusta #60 with a 2-yard rushing touchdown. GT up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Titans' drive started with a 36-yard pass to Corey Young #18. Next snap Preston #20 fumbled the handoff as Fontana recovered the ball. With 7 minutes left, Lewis #12 overthrew the receiver and Joseph Burciaga #1 MLB FOHI intercepted the ball and returned it for 15-yards. On the 14-yard line FOHI QB Calvin Burnach #13 threw a touchdown to Wide Receiver (WR) Nathan Juarez #3 for 14-yards. Extra point missed 14-6 GT.  FOHI QB Calvin Burnach #13 passed to his favorite target WR Nathan Juarez #1 for the 30-yard pass touchdown. The 2-point conversion was no good after a pass block by the Titans 12-14. GT had a strong drive of their own in the redzone on the 28-yard line. Lewis #12 threw a deep dime to Corey Young #18 with an amazing touchdown grab for 28-yards making the score 21-12. FOHI tried a last minute drive but a huge sack by Gusta #60 took out the QB with an injury to end the half 21-12 and GT in the lead.  Fontana Steelers started the 2nd half with the ball and a backup QB behind the center. Fontana punted the ball back to GT. Fontana drove with their truck of a running back Elijah Todd #40, who broke about 4 tackles a play. Next play backup FOHI’s QB threw an interception to GT’s Dominic Balderama #3 and he returned it for 30 yards.  Next Play for GT on Fontana’s 15-yard line snap was low ricocheted off Lewis' #12 ankle recovered by FOHI by Patrick Muller #44.  After a Fontana punt, Titans started their drive on the opponent’s 33-yard line. Lewis #12 handed it off to Malachi L. Compton III #2 ran it threw the open hole and ran right down the sideline taking a hit by a defender but still scored making the score 28-12.  GT scored another touchdown from a pass by Lewis #12 to Young #18 his tallest receiver for a 10-yard receiving touchdown, making the Titans' lead 35-12. Fontana Robert Valencia #21 ran it in for a 4-yard rushing touchdown after an over the head punt was recovered and down on the 4-yard line. 35-18. After a good Titans drive, GT fumbled the ball and FOHI Cristian Rosel #6 recovered the fumble with 5 minutes left to go but couldn’t get anything going on the drive. Grand Terrace Titans next drive ended with Elijah Robinson #24 FOHI ran back a fumbled snap 80-yards to the house for a touchdown. GT up 35-24. After the battle, Grand Terrace Titans came out with the win 35-24 at FOHI’s homecoming game.
