The Thursday Morning Book Club, a section of the Grand Terrace Woman’s Club (GTWC), made its annual presentation of new and gently used books and DVDs on Thursday, Aug. 8, to the Grand Terrace library. This is the group’s sixth annual presentation.
Last week, some 450 books were donated.
Again this year, Grand Terrace Woman’s Club members were asked to donate books and DVDs. The members who participated in this endeavor included Don and Sandy Torre, Joanne Long, Allen and Nancy Hassoud, Norma Bethel, Betty Daniels, Roy and Pat Nix, Carolyn Crowe, Barbara Thornhill, Kenny and Wendy Curran, Kenneth and Francis Carter, and Bob and Debbie Earle. This is only a partial list. Also, Rosalie Orrick, Chairman of the book group, took this opportunity to make her annual donation of books on or about women.
This year’s selections include books on Margaret Thatcher and Eleanor Roosevelt; Amanda Knox’s “Waiting to Be Heard”; “Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope,” and Caroline Kennedy’s “Poems to Learn by Heart.” The group hopes these additions will be useful to Grand Terrace reading patrons.
The Grand Terrace Woman’s Club Book Club has, since its inception, met on the second Thursday of each month at the Food Connection at 9 a.m. on Barton Road.
