Scout, Jem, Dill, Atticus, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley will all come to life next week at Canyon Springs when the Theater department, in conjunction with the Black Student Union, stages the American classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the novel by Harper Lee.
Regardless of whether you’ve read the Pulitzer Prize-winning book or seen the famous Gregory Peck movie, the production’s themes of race, class, gender, justice and compassion remain just as fresh today as when the book was published in 1960.
To Kill a Mockingbird runs through Sat. Feb. 28, at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
“Hey, Boo,” I said. “Mr. Arthur, honey,” said Atticus, gently correcting me. “Jean Louise, this is Mr. Arthur Radley. I believe he already knows you.”
