On June 27th, the Daisy's Hope Foundation (DHF), based out of San Bernardino and Dream Team Angels Rescue, based out of Grand Terrace hosted a free microchip clinic where they chipped dogs and cats and gave free pet tags, flea/tick meds, harnesses, collars, and leashes. The event was a beautiful day with pet owners and pets lined up stretching across the building ready to receive their free chips and other goodies. The vet techs were able to educate pet owners about vaccinations and spay and neuter. DHF was able to help a few pets with free spay and neuter services. “The pet parents and dogs and cats were so grateful, the dogs especially loved their new harnesses,” said Alice Chow, member of the Dream Team Angels Rescue. “We want to thank our private donors and sponsors Redlands Unleashed Fidos & Friends - RUFF and REDlands Friends Of Shelter Animals (REDFOSA). We were able to hold this event because of your donations,” Chow said. The DHF is a shelter intervention program, which means they provide free services to assist pet owners with caring for their pets, in order to keep them out of the municipal shelter system, where those animals may never make it out alive. The two non-profit foundations gave a huge thank you to the vet techs and volunteers who worked during the clinic, helping all of the animals and pet owners. One of the helpers, Barbara Rick Padon was able to give some pet parents some tips on training. “Thank you for being so kind and helping the animals,” Chow said. “It was nothing but love and kindness today from everyone. During this difficult time, it was truly refreshing to be surrounded by people with beautiful hearts who care about the animals and each other. I left today with my heart still smiling because I feel so blessed to call these earth angels my friends.” The Daisy’s Hope Foundation and Dream Team Angels Rescue are planning on holding another free microchip clinic in December so that the animals will be chipped before the New Year fireworks. In addition, the DHF also holds a pantry to feed dogs and cats in San Bernardino and their next event will be held on July 30. Some of other amazing services the foundation provides for the low income, seniors and veterans of San Bernardino County are free spay and neuter, free microchip clinics and free vaccine clinics. According to Jennifer Rosengard, President of the Daisy's Hope Foundation, last weekend’s microchip clinic was DHF’s 4th annual Pre-Fourth of July Clinic and we microchipped 195 dogs and cats and 1 goat! “It was a fantastic day and everyone had a good time,” Rosengard said. “We were hoping for more pets to show up, but we understand many people didn’t come due to the COVID19 concerns.
