Saturday August 11th, marked a day of outreach for local area churches. It was a day full of prayer, preaching, laughter and praise! Church of Fire in Christ (COFIC), a local church in the heart of Grand Terrace was among those on the move reaching all those who had “an ear to hear.” The Street Team Ministry started the day by heading out to a local apartment complex in the Meadow Lane area of Colton greeting residents with homemade breakfast burritos, chips, drinks, and of course prayer. “There are people in the surrounding communities who seem to have it all yet are hurting on the inside and can really use some encouraging words, some prayer and even just a hug,” says one member of the Street Team Ministry. People were encouraged by the presence of a prayer team, not asking for anything in return, just out in the community to be a blessing. The message they are trying to convey is that there is hope. Even in the midst of trials and everyday struggles, from deaths of loved ones to not being able to pay rent, all can use an encouraging word. “This church’s goal is to go beyond their 4 walls and bring the love of Christ to those who are hurting and broken. In that, we pray that all would allow Christ into their hearts and know that there is hope for everyone,” explains Carlos Silva, one of the outreach coordinators. The outreach was a huge success, as many gave their lives to Christ, received prayer, and a meal! Simultaneously, across the Inland Empire in the city of San Bernardino, Church of Fire In Christ’s Pastor Carol Sandoval set out on a mission to reach the women in the surrounding community. Local church Iglesia Rey De Gloria (King of Glory Church), hosted a Women’s Service “Dios me Eligio” (God Chose Me). Women from several churches all over the Inland Empire gathered together in one mind and one accord to draw closer to God. “Saturday’s message reminded me that I am chosen and anointed…He (Jesus) set me free from addiction, depression, and fears. Now that I know that I am chosen, I should live my life as just that-A chosen person, set apart,” explains Deacon Adriana Rodriguez, Church of Fire In Christ. Sandoval delivered a message based on Isaiah 61:1 and highlighting the fact that all are blessed and chosen. “There are no coincidences! God used this service and this scripture to mend the broken hearted. He has healed not only individuals, but relationships as well, just as His Word says He would,” exclaims Sandoval.
Church of Fire In Christ offers believers of all ages events and opportunities to stay connected. Saturday was also an exciting time for the Children’s Ministry as well. Pledging support at yet another local church Uncion De Lo Alto, located in nearby Rialto, children of all ages attended a very special outreach intended to reach the tiniest of hearts as well. “Glow for Jesus,” an event in which volunteers with a heart for children transformed the sanctuary into a glow-in-the-dark space adventure. Children were led in a fun-filled song and dance to “shine like stars for Jesus.” They were treated to lunch, cupcakes and rounded out the exciting day by splashing their way in and out of the waterslide jumper and refreshing swimming pools provided by the church.
With an extended invitation to all the surrounding community, Senior Pastors Julio and Carol Sandoval continue to reach out to those who are lost, broken, hurting, and in need of a savior, “We invite you to get connected with our ministry, join us for service and come expecting our big God to do big things in your life.”
