Recently the Colton Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Royal Gents Association to contribute their part in the season of giving. The combined effort Thanksgiving food drive was able to help 40 families from Lincoln, McKinley, Grant, Wilson, and Alice Birney elementry schools in the Colton Joint Unified School District. The children, their parents, school officials, and members of the two organizations all shared in a special moment as they boxes were given and received with gladness. For some families, this was the only way they were going to have a Thanksgiving meal.    A team of caring individuals from both organizations graciously gave of their time and their talents to prepare the boxes in advance. Christina Gaitan, the Colton Chamber Coordinator organized a day of preparation and had all the volunteers working in collaboration to ensure the boxes contained each and every item. Turkeys, stuffing, and all the vegetables needed, along with pumpkin pies to top it all off were gently bundled for the families.  “The Colton Chamber loves to help not only our business owners, but also our families in need in this community. We are about bringing people together especially in this season. Don’t forget to come out and enjoy the Christmas parade on Dec 7th at 5:30pm!” says Gaitan. Cynthia Rosales, Community Liaison for the Royal Gents Association noted that, “It is our 3rd annual food drive with the Colton Chamber of Commerce. We are grateful and thankful for all the donations we received and we are blessed to be able to give to so many families. We are looking forward to working with the Chamber again soon.” Colton City News is thankful for partnerships such as these, which are set out to help the community. A Happy Thanksgiving to all involved!
