City Council candidate Matt Brown has unveiled a draft of ordinance to secure Measure M revenue for law enforcement services. If elected, he plans to introduce an ordinance that would ensure all revenue generated from Measure M is allocated exclusively for law enforcement services. Matt believes it is imperative to create a formal framework through an ordinance that protects tax dollars and ensures they are spent exclusively for public safety. "This proposal is not just a plan; it's a commitment to transparency and accountability in how our city’s resources are utilized," Brown stated. “By enshrining this ordinance into the municipal code, it will provide the strong legal protections necessary for long-term enforcement of the will of the voters.” While other candidates voiced support for enhancing law enforcement and public safety in Grand Terrace, Matt stands out as the only candidate with a clear strategy to safeguard taxpayer money and ensure Measure M: General Services Measure proceeds are used for their intended purpose. Prior to her appointment to the City Council, Councilwoman Michelle Sabino expressed her support, stating, “We need to move the Measure forward and ensure the revenue is used exclusively for public safety.” Should voters approve Measure M, Matt Brown is dedicated to prioritizing the discussion of this ordinance at his first council meeting. "We need to ensure that every cent collected is spent exactly how our community intended," he assured voters. Grand Terrace deserves a council that listens to the community while acting decisively to protect their interests. The proposed ordinance would establish a legally binding framework for earmarking tax revenue for public safety and ensures that future changes would require unanimous approval from the city council. It also includes a provision for annual accountability to ensure transparency. Matt is asking voters to support his vision for a brighter future for Grand Terrace by voting for him next Tuesday.
