On September 3, 2011, family, relatives and friends of Ben Calderon came together to celebrate his 100th birthday celebration which was coordinated and put on by his daughters Dolores, Connie and Veronica. The family and relatives traveled from as far as Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and many from all over California. Special recognition was given to Mr. Calderon from the local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) of which he was a member for some 68 years; he also received congratulatory plaque from President Obama and the First Lady on achieving the milestone of celebrating his 100th birthday. Here a short personal history on Mr. Ben Calderon; born on September 3, 1911, in Huaniqueo de Morales, Mexico, he was one of 5 siblings, 3 sisters and one brother, namely Eddie, Maria de Jesus, Socorro and Elvira. When he as 5 or 6 years old the family moved to Douglas Arizona and lived there for about 40 years. In 1956 he moved to Colton and lived at the same home since. Ben and Lupe married in 1946, shortly after their marriage he closed the business and went to Coin Electrical School in Chicago to become an electrician. Once finished with school he worked in Douglas and was self-employed there for four years. In 1956 they moved to Colton and he joined the IBEW and worked in the Inland Empire area as an electrician for 55 years. We are truly grateful that our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and friend too many, has been with us all these years. Then on January 26, 2014 at the age of 102, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and uncle too many, left us and is now in heaven. Ben Calderon is survived by his wife Guadalupe Calderon, daughters; Irene, Dolores, Magdalena, Connie and Veronica. Ben and his wife Guadalupe would have celebrated 68 years of marriage in March 2014.
