This summer, Azure Hills hosted their annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) featuring “Weird Animals” to share Jesus’ “one-of-a-kind”, unconditional love with every child. The purpose of the program was to enlighten children that despite the negativity that surrounds us, Jesus will always embrace them and their differences.
Azure Hills put on a very successful VBS. A design and construction group was formed to help decorate as the youth stepped up and became involved as teen crew leaders. The week-long series brought together an average of 300 children each night to partake in several activities including fun games and crafts at the Imagination Station, which were led by a team of volunteers. Pastor Patricia acknowledged, “The kids were very excited and eager to sing, play and engage in every VBS station. There was lots of energy and excitement throughout the week!” The event brings families the opportunity to become involved in sharing a devotion to Jesus with the children.
Other activities consist of Interactive Bible Story time and KidVid Cinema where kids watched and talked about stories that addressed acceptance, bullying, and dealing with the tough stuff in life such as illness. The kids also enjoyed a light dinner at the Critter Café while parents sat and relaxed in the Parent Café with wi-fi, “Walking Tacos”, snacks, refreshing drinks, etc.
Pastor Patricia professed, “I’m deeply grateful that this year’s VBS was such a blessing to the kids of our community.”
Azure Hills Church describes their congregation as a dynamic community of over 2000 members with an affectionate, family atmosphere. Pastor Patricia shared, “Our church is multicultural, with members coming from over 50 countries, and multigenerational, with many young adults and families with small children.”
