SBVC Women’s Soccer: Parker and Chavez Sign Letters of Intent

San Bernardino Valley College Women’s Soccer sophomore forward Veronica Parker (Hesperia - Sultana) and sophomore forward Cynthia Chavez (Cathedral City H.S.) have both signed letters of intent, Chavez with Kansas Wesleyan University and Parker with University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Chavez, a second team All-West Region by NSCAA/Continental Tire for Junior College Women's Division III selection and a first team All-Foothill Conference selection, scored a team high 14 goals on 58 shots over the season with five of those being game winning goals. Parker, a first team All-Foothill Conference selection, had her biggest goal of the year in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regional playoffs which was the go ahead goal versus Mt. San Jacinto. She collected multi-goal efforts at Desert, at Victor Valley and at home versus Cerro Coso. The team finished the season ranked 11th in the nation by the NSCAA, and were ranked fourth in Southern California and sixth in the state. Ending the year with a 15-2-6 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference record. They were rewarded with a #8 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a reward for their sixth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with four first team All-Conference honors and four second team All-Conference honors. Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas, which is about 85 miles north of Wichita and about 180 miles west of Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes play at Bissell Field, and the team is coached by second-year coach, Blake Reynolds. In the 2014 season, the Coyotes went 8-0-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 13-5-2. The Coyotes ended the 2014 with a tie in the KCAC Tournament Championship. KWU is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of NAIA. University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, which is about 40 miles south of Little Rock. The UAPB Golden Lions play at Pumphrey Stadium, and the team is coached by head coach, Jamie Hutchison, who was hired in March. In the 2014 season, the Golden Lions went 0-5 in conference play, with an overall record of 1-14. UAPB is in the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) of NCAA Division I.
