Valley View Hosts 7th Annual African-American Symposium

The recent 7th annual African-American Symposium at Valley View High School boasted a record attendance of about 350 students. Keynote speaker Pastor Barry E. Knight focused his address on letting students know who they truly are. Breakout sessions featured speakers who emphasized the importance of making powerful choices in life. They come from various walks of life and are actively involved in the community: Pastor Barry E. Knight, Dr. Dyrell Foster, Joan M. Jones, Molley Macauley (founder of the Symposium), Ebonie E. Vincent, Eugenia E. Vincent, Brandon Williams, Dr. Denise Fleming (School Board member), Dr. John Jacob, Tyrone Montgomery, Mark Campbell and Kevin Jackson. The event was made possible by the dynamic team of Silvia Rogers, Dr. David Macauley, Kenya Williams, Diana Handy, Alex Lowry, Deepika Srivastava, M.Sgt. Eugene Wright and Spencer Moore.
